What happens
Jack Benny and his press agent Steve Bradley plan a publicity stunt after a dream in which Benny bet $85,000 on a racehorse and won. Bradley spreads the story that the bet was real, and newspapers and radio commentators report the win. Benny's friends, his maid Rochester and co-stars Mary Livingstone and Phil Harris, react to the supposed fortune. The story is from the Jack Benny series, first broadcast on October 28, 1945, on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead roles. Late in the episode, a gunman forces Benny to open his office safe.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
