What happens
Jack Benny, recovering from a bad cold, arrives at the studio and banters with Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Mary Livingston, Kenny Baker and Rochester about his illness and an unhelpful mustard plaster. The cast chats about an upcoming trip to New York and Jack's supposed Broadway ambitions. Then the group presents a football sketch, Hold That Line, in which Jack plays Flash Benny, a coach who must rally his flat-footed college team for the second half of a game against Meatball Tech. The series, a 1938 Sunday broadcast sponsored by Jell-O, is performed on the NBC and CBS networks.

Characters: Jack Benny, Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Mary Livingston, Kenny Baker, Rochester
Listen for: Jack's recovering-cold jokes with Rochester and Phil, and the football sketch's fumbles and signal-calling in the second half.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
