What happens
Jack Benny tries to repair his broken phonograph at home in Beverly Hills, with Rochester helping, but the machine keeps misbehaving and the repairs only make things worse. Mary Livingstone arrives, reads a letter from her mother in Plainfield, and then the cast gathers for rehearsal while Dennis Day plays a new song he has recorded. Steve Bradley, Jack's publicist, arrives with a plan to raise Jack's public standing by buying a baseball team, and the program ends with a commercial built around a baseball theme. The Jack Benny program, broadcast on NBC and CBS Radio on April 13, 1947, stars Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris.
Jack Benny's home in Beverly Hills, and later the NBC studios during rehearsal.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
