What happens

Jack Benny opens the new season of his Jell-O program, the first show after a summer break, with Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson and Kenny Baker. Benny chats about his vacation at Saratoga and the Adirondacks, and Mary describes a doctor she met while recovering from an operation. Phil Harris, newly joined as orchestra leader, is introduced and quickly becomes the target of teasing. A radio guide reporter keeps trying to interview Kenny Baker, and a guest named Mr. Bunchman, who drove a truck of gasoline for a transatlantic flight, joins the program. The episode is an early entry in the Jack Benny series, broadcast on October 4, 1936.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
