What happens
Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone arrive at the CBS studio on a hot day, with their driver Rochester at the wheel. Jack finds his assigned parking space taken, and his dressing room has been given to Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. Mel Blanc keeps pressing Jack for a part, Dennis Day gets an unexpected draft notice, and Red Skelton rehearses a western scene that goes wrong. Jack ends up in a smaller studio as his show's air time approaches. The original air date is September 25, 1949, on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris among the leads.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
