What happens
Jack Benny hosts a Thanksgiving party at his Beverly Hills home, and his guests, including Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson and Phil Harris, trade jokes and complaints about the evening. A newspaper society column puffs up the gathering, and the group argues over the turkey, the soup and the butter. Benny grows irritated with his cast, and the banter escalates. Dennis Day joins the squabble before the episode turns to a duck hunting trip Benny and Livingstone took with Andy Devine and Rochester. The episode is from the Jack Benny series, first broadcast on November 26, 1939, on NBC and CBS Radio, with Benny, Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris as the leads.
Jack Benny's home in Beverly Hills, and a duck hunting ranch
Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Don Wilson, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Eddie Anderson, Andy Devine
Listen for: The running argument over the Thanksgiving turkey, and the account of the duck hunt
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
