What happens

Jack Benny and Mary Livingstone visit a Hollywood drugstore across from the NBC building before a Sunday broadcast of the Jack Benny program in April 1942. Their lunch is interrupted by a steady stream of colleagues, including Phil Harris and Dennis Day, who joke around with Benny over his new film with Anne Sheridan and the upcoming trip to San Francisco. The sketches and banter center on the cast's rivalries and small grievances, with Jack's stingy and vain persona drawing the most jokes.

Characters: Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Phil Harris, Dennis Day, Eddie Anderson, Don Wilson, Virgil, Gilroy

Listen for: Jack Benny's exchanges with Phil Harris and Dennis Day in the drugstore, and Don Wilson's one-act prospector sketch

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
