What happens

Jack Benny opens the program by teasing his announcer Don Wilson about how Don knew about his new suit, then the broadcast moves into a sketch. Dennis Day, Mary Livingstone and Phil Harris join in the banter before the cast performs a melodramatic mystery called Murder at Romanov's. Captain O'Benny of the Beverly Hills Police investigates a killing at a fashionable restaurant, questioning a cigarette girl, the owner and several guests while his staff and his bloodhound Prince add to the confusion. The episode is from the Jack Benny series, first broadcast on January 8, 1950, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris as the lead actors.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
