What happens

Jack Benny, having been elected dog catcher of Beverly Hills on the program, feuds by phone with Mark Sanders and then Paramount production head Mr. LeBaron over where the premiere of his picture with Fred Allen should be held, Waukegan or Waukegan's rival. The series is the Jell-O program, the episode aired November 10, 1940 on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the leading roles. Benny insists the premiere be held in his hometown while Phil Harris, Dennis Day and Don Wilson trade jokes about the argument and the stalled start of the broadcast. Benny then takes the matter to Frank Freeman, and the chaos grows as the cast drives to the studio.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
