What happens

Jack Benny and his friend Dennis Day are at a drugstore lunch counter when Dennis spots a magazine cover of Ronald Colman and decides to imitate his voice. Dennis suggests a prank: disguise his voice as Colman and invite Jack to a costume party at the Colman house. Jack, dressed as a cowboy, arrives with his date, Gladys Abisco, and Colman's household reacts with surprise as the evening unfolds.

A drugstore lunch counter, then Jack Benny's house, a telephone booth, and the Colman house in Beverly Hills.

Characters: Jack Benny, Dennis Day, Ronald Colman, Gladys Abisco, Rochester, Benita

Listen for: Dennis imitating Ronald Colman's voice on the telephone, and Jack's reaction at the Colman house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
