What happens
Rochester tidies Jack Benny's den and finds old love letters, then a medical report addressed to Jack that he reads aloud, which the household takes as a surprising pregnancy announcement. Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day and Phil Harris are drawn into the confusion, with Jack reading the letter aloud and Dennis, the Mary Livingstone of the cast, feeling the same disbelief. The Jack Benny program, sponsored by Lucky Strike, aired on November 16, 1947 on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the lead roles.
Jack Benny's home in Beverly Hills, and later the Department of Motor Vehicles in Los Angeles.
Characters: Jack Benny, Rochester, Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Phil Harris, Don Wilson, Ronald Coleman
Listen for: Rochester reading the doctor's letter aloud and the household reacting to it.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
