What happens

Jack Benny and his company are performing at the Palace Theater in Cleveland, and the episode follows the backstage bustle before the show. Rochester tends to Benny's makeup while Mary Livingstone and Marilyn Maxwell drop by, and a theater manager named Mr. Mink stops in to reminisce about old vaudeville days. Phil Harris and Bob Feller, the Cleveland Indians pitcher, also visit the dressing room, and the story turns to Bob Hope's Cleveland connections. Jack Benny's series aired on NBC and CBS Radio, and this episode dates from June 20, 1948. The transcript is partial and garbled in places, so the fuller plot is not clear from this portion.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
