What happens

Jack's friend Mary is absent from the broadcast due to laryngitis, and the program is set in a jail, with the cast performing from the cells. Jack and Johnny share their predicament with fellow prisoners while their lawyer prepares to defend them. This is an episode of the Jack Benny radio series, first broadcast on January 19, 1936, on NBC and CBS Radio, with Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson and Phil Harris in the leading roles.
A county jail and a courtroom, after a speeding arrest
Characters: Jack Benny, Johnny Green, Mary Livingstone, Eddie Anderson, Phil Harris, Kenny Baker
Listen for: The courtroom trial, where Jack is questioned about his driving speed and the witnesses are called
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
