What happens

Jack Benny ends his season with a final show full of his usual bickering with Mary Livingstone, Dennis Day, Bob Crosby and Rochester. Benny jokes about his busy year and his thrifty habits, and Rochester calls with news that he is getting married. Benny then recounts a trip to Venice, where a sightseeing gondola ride goes awry for him and Mary. The guide's Italian commentary is mangled in the retelling, and Benny works on a joke he plans for next season. Rochester then calls back with news that the wedding is off. The transcript ends before the program closes.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
