What happens

Jack Benny and his cast gather for lunch after a Saturday rehearsal at a drugstore, where the conversation turns to the summer break and Dennis Day's record on the jukebox. Later, Jack walks home past a movie theater and meets a lifeguard, then returns to his house, where Rochester takes calls and Mary Livingstone phones with a request for money. Jack ends up trying to tune in the Indianapolis 500 on the radio, struggling to find the right station as the race is interrupted by other programs.

Los Angeles, California, on a Saturday in late May, spanning a drugstore, the streets, and Jack Benny's home.

Characters: Jack Benny, Dennis Day, Mary Livingstone, Rochester, Don Wilson, Bob Crosby, Mr. Kitsil

Listen for: Jack struggling to find the Indianapolis 500 on the radio, and the race commentary near the end.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
