What happens
Paladin is hired by the respectable citizens of Brackwater to shut down the Paradise Saloon and remove its proprietor, A.J. Banyan. When Paladin arrives at the saloon, he discovers that A.J. Banyan is a woman—a tough, formidable woman who runs the establishment with an iron fist and refuses to be intimidated or forced out of town.
Brackwater, a cow town south of the Dakotas, primarily in the Paradise Saloon; opens in San Francisco at the Carlton Hotel in 1875.
Characters: Paladin, Felber Fidd, A.J. Banyan, Jake
Listen for: Paladin's realization that his usual methods won't work against a female opponent, and A.J. Banyan's commanding presence and refusal to back down from the men trying to drive her out of town.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
