What happens

Paladin attends the opera in San Francisco where he meets Don Miguel Rojas, a distinguished Mexican visitor, and his wife Donia Maria. That same evening, Don Miguel is stabbed behind the curtain by an unseen assailant. Poisoned and dying, Don Miguel hires Paladin for $1,000 to escort his body safely back to his home in Santa Martino, fearing his enemies will desecrate it.

San Francisco, 1875. The Carlton Hotel and the opera house.

Characters: Paladin, Don Miguel Rojas, Donia Maria, Dr. Mejio

Listen for: A mysterious blood feud from Mexico, a poisoned knife blade, and the question of whether Paladin can safely deliver Don Miguel's body to its destination.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
