What happens

Paladin receives an urgent summons from Sid Muller in Beaver Fork, Montana and sets out through a harsh winter landscape. While climbing a snow-covered mountain, an avalanche buries him, but a mysterious hunter named Daniel Carr rescues him and nurses him back to health in an abandoned cabin. As Paladin recovers, he realizes that Carr deliberately shot a man on the mountainside, and the avalanche was triggered by that very shot.

Northern Montana in winter, a settlement near Beaver Fork, and an abandoned sheep herder's cabin in the snow-covered mountains.

Characters: Paladin, Hey Boy, Sid Muller, Daniel Carr, Old timer, Mrs. Abbott

Listen for: Paladin's growing realization of Daniel Carr's crime and the moral complexity that emerges as his rescuer reveals his guilty conscience about the murder he committed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
