What happens

Paladin is hired to recover $50,000 stolen from a bank in Merced. Following a trail into the mountains, he discovers the legendary outlaw Pappy French, wounded with a broken leg after his horse threw him. Paladin fixes the leg and finds himself in an uneasy partnership with French, who offers him a cut of the stolen money in exchange for help reaching his destination.
