What happens

Paladin arrives in Pueblo, a town divided by a railroad dispute between the Western Pacific and Rio Grande lines fighting for control of a right-of-way through Raymond Gorge. Both sides offer him work as a hired gunman, but Paladin devises an alternative plan involving a legal eviction notice and a cash settlement to break the costly deadlock.

Pueblo in 1875, a town caught in the middle of a railroad war over control of a crucial gorge passage.

Characters: Paladin, Charles Foster, Ralph Cole, John Sookie, Sheriff Quinn

Listen for: Paladin's clever negotiation to end violence without drawing his guns, and his manipulation of legal and financial pressure to resolve the conflict.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
