What happens

Marshall Matt Dillon searches for Will Hunter, who was supposed to testify against a man accused of stealing horses but fails to appear in court. When the judge cannot delay proceedings and no witness is available, he must dismiss the case for lack of evidence, allowing the accused criminal to go free.
