What happens
Marshal Dillon learns that Jim Rankin, a Wells Fargo messenger carrying a $60,000 payroll, was murdered in El Paso. When stolen banknotes from that shipment turn up in Dodge City, Dillon questions Lily, an attractive woman at the Long Branch Saloon, who bought a train ticket to Kansas City with the stolen bills. Lily claims she was engaged to Rankin, but Dillon suspects she may know more about the robbery and murder than she's admitting.
Dodge City, Kansas and surrounding territory; the Marshal's office and the Long Branch Saloon
Characters: Matt Dillon, Chester, Will Borgler, Kitty, Lily
Listen for: The revelation of the stolen banknotes and Lily's connection to Jim Rankin's murder; Dillon's investigation into why the killers came north instead of south
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
