What happens
A businessman named Ivy arrives in Dodge City and begins buying out the local freight companies at inflated prices, absorbing the competition one by one. When Marshall Dillon investigates, he finds Ivy employs the dangerous gunman Cam Spiegel as his bodyguard, and the only freighter refusing to sell is Joe Trimble, who values his independence and the home he built with his earnings.
Dodge City, Kansas and the surrounding frontier, with the Marshall's office and the Dodge House hotel.
Characters: Matt Dillon, Chester, Bob Adams, Ivy, Cam Spiegel, Joe Trimble, Jim Honecker
Listen for: Matt Dillon's suspicions about Ivy's true intentions as he investigates the mysterious takeover of Dodge City's freight business; the tension between Cam Spiegel and the Marshall; Joe Trimble's principled refusal to sell his outfit.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
