What happens

Marshal Dillon learns that a hermit named Carpus has lost his beloved hound dog, Danny Boy, to a bullet wound. The old dog, blind and no longer useful for hunting, was Carpus's only companion in his isolated river bottom shack. Dillon visits Carpus to investigate who might have shot the dog and why.

Dodge City and the surrounding territory, including a remote shack on the river bottom where a hermit lives alone with his dog

Characters: Matt Dillon, Chester, Miss Kitty, Doc, Carpus

Listen for: A touching story about the bond between a lonely man and his aging hound, and an investigation into who would commit such a cruel act

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
