What happens

A Mexican named Don Mateo arrives in Dodge City looking for Matt Dillon, an old friend and former riding companion. Mateo seeks to enlist Dillon's help in tracking down a man named Ralo, a troublemaker who has hurt Mateo's woman Maria. Though Dillon remembers their shared past and the adventures they once had together, he must now explain why he cannot leave his duties as a U.S. Marshal to ride with his old friend.
