What happens
A payroll theft from Fort Dodge and the murder of two Army soldiers sets off a clash between Marshal Dillon and the hot-headed Major Randall, who threatens to impose martial law on Dodge City if the crime isn't solved within a week. As tension builds between the townspeople and the Army, Dillon investigates the crime and discovers an Army clerk named Corporal Bowers may hold the key to what happened.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
