What happens
Gildersleeve is uneasy as his young ward Leroy spends more and more time with his cousin Emily, who is visiting the household. Gildersleeve decides to win Leroy back by getting him interested in activities Emily cannot share, starting with a baseball game and then a horseback ride. Each attempt goes awkwardly, and Gildersleeve's pride and rivalry with Emily keep pushing the plans further off course. The Great Gildersleeve, broadcast on NBC on September 3, 1952, stars Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.
Summer, in the Gildersleeve household and around the neighborhood, including the drugstore, a baseball lot and a riding stable.

Listen for: Gildersleeve's attempts to win back Leroy's attention and the mishaps that follow each one.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
