What happens
Gildersleeve, the city water commissioner, is trying to impress Gloria McKinley, a Hogan Brothers employee, by showing her the house of his wealthy neighbor Mr. Bullard. Bullard has phoned from out of town and asked Gildersleeve to turn on his refrigerator, and Gildersleeve brings Gloria along to see the mansion. Their visit leads to spilled ink on a Persian rug and a series of hasty attempts to clean it before Bullard returns home. The episode is part of the long-running radio comedy The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on September 10, 1952, starring Harold Peary, Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
