What happens
Water Commissioner Gildersleeve faces a crisis when water pressure drops on Thanksgiving morning and a local newspaper cartoon mocks him. Mayor Hopkins suggests a dramatic response, and Gildersleeve agrees to fly to the upper reservoir by helicopter with his employee Charlie Anderson. Leroy tags along to the office, and the household reacts to the flight plans in their own ways. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on NBC on November 24, 1948. Harold Peary stars as Gildersleeve, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
