What happens

Throughout this episode of The Great Gildersleeve, broadcast on NBC on January 23, 1952, Gildersleeve, played by Harold Peary, is determined to spend an evening alone with Paula Winthrop. Her daughter Babs keeps finding excuses to tag along, and Gildersleeve's niece Marjorie and nephew Leroy comment on the romance. Babs pretends to practice piano so the couple can go out, but she is clever about it. Gildersleeve and Paula attend a movie, and the family continues to plot and interfere around them. Willard Waterman also stars as Gildersleeve, and Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle appear in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
