What happens
Gildersleeve hears from neighbor Mrs. Ransom that Mrs. Peevey is seriously ill and needs an operation her husband may not afford. The Jolly Boys club, led by Judge Hooker, Floyd and Gildersleeve, decides to help. They first elect Dr. Pettibone to the club, hoping he will treat Mrs. Peevey cheaply, but the doctor refuses. The members then urge friends to buy six-month drug supplies at Peevey's pharmacy. The Great Gildersleeve, starring Harold Peary, aired on NBC on October 28, 1945.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
