What happens
Leroy's neighbor Lila Ransom receives a special delivery letter from Lightfoot Dupree, a Southern gentleman she once met while visiting Georgia. Lila is excited, though her friend Throckmorton Gildersleeve is wary of him and worried about her romantic judgment. When Dupree arrives in Summerfield unexpectedly on business, Lila asks Throckmorton to meet him, and an evening of awkward introductions and visiting begins. Throckmorton also learns from Judge Hooker that Lila has been talked into investing in television stock instead of repaying a loan he co-signed. The evening's tensions build as the three of them spend time together.
Summerfield, a small town, in autumn during the 1940s; Throckmorton's house and Lila's house next door, and a local drugstore.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
