What happens
Gildersleeve is tidying up for spring when a letter arrives from Violet, an old flame from his youth who is coming through Summerfield. Her letter brings back memories of a romance that ended long ago, when she married a man named Harry. Gildersleeve is thrilled at the prospect of seeing her again and sets out to meet her bus. Meanwhile, his niece Marjorie and his young ward Leroy each have their own plans for the evening. The episode is part of the long-running radio series The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on March 25, 1945, starring Harold Peary.

Listen for: Gildersleeve's nervous preparations as he waits for Violet's bus, and his memories of their youthful romance.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
