What happens
Gildersleeve's old car keeps breaking down, and he is tired of it. Marjorie is annoyed that Ben is always being called over to fix it, while Leroy envies Mr. Bullard's new car across the street. Gildersleeve lectures Leroy about the value of an education and the war bonds set aside to pay for college. Later, Gildersleeve pays a visit to a car dealer, and the question of buying a new automobile becomes more pressing. The Great Gildersleeve is an NBC radio comedy, and this episode aired on February 10, 1946, starring Harold Peary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
