What happens

Gildersleeve's nephew Leroy wakes up grumpy and reluctant to go to school. Leroy is sent home from school with a fever, and Gildersleeve, worried, tries to get a doctor and a remedy from the druggist. He then settles Leroy in bed and stays home from the office to look after him. Gildersleeve and his nephew sit upstairs together through the afternoon as Leroy keeps asking for things and Gildersleeve grows impatient. Miss Goodwin, Leroy's school principal, visits with his schoolbooks and speaks to the sick boy.

The Gildersleeve household, a house in Summerfield, on a winter weekday.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
