What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, the water commissioner of Summerfield, spends Memorial Day preparing for the town's parade and drawing up his will shortly before his wedding to Leila Ransom. Sensing the will matters more than he admits, he asks for help from the Judge and the drugstore clerk Peavey, then plans a memorial fountain to honor himself. Leroy, his nephew, and his housekeeper Birdie fill the household with commotion as Gildersleeve squeezes into an old uniform to march in the parade. Harold Peary stars in the title role, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle, in this NBC broadcast from May 30, 1943.

Listen for: Gildersleeve's preparations for the parade and his attempt to write his will
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
