What happens
Gildersleeve, a member of the Summerfield School Board, prepares for a Parent Teachers Association meeting where Judge Hooker is the scheduled speaker, but attendance is poor. Gildersleeve and Judge Hooker clash over how to handle juvenile delinquency, and a debate is proposed for a later date. Meanwhile, Gildersleeve is left in charge of young Craig Bullard, who is visiting while his mother is at the hairdresser, and Leroy keeps trading toys with him. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, and this episode first aired on NBC on May 13, 1945, with Harold Peary in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
