What happens
Gildersleeve returns home late from the water department to find his niece Marjorie and her husband Bronco strained by the coming baby. Each of them takes him aside to complain about the other, and Gildersleeve, trying to keep the peace, gives Bronco some advice to simply let Marjorie have her way. Soon Marjorie develops a sudden craving for sauerkraut in the middle of the night, and Bronco is sent out to find it. Gildersleeve, as the old-time radio series The Great Gildersleeve, first aired on NBC on January 3, 1951, with Willard Waterman in the title role, stays busy trying to keep the household calm while the search continues.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
