What happens

Gildersleeve persuades his wealthy neighbor Rumson Bullard to take a date off his hands on New Year's Eve, and the two men have been out on the town ever since. Gildersleeve is worn out, and the household is struggling to keep up with the late nights. Bullard keeps pressing for another evening out, and Gildersleeve's sleep is repeatedly interrupted by visitors and plans. The Great Gildersleeve is a long-running NBC comedy series, and this episode first aired on January 10, 1951. Harold Peary plays Gildersleeve, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
