What happens
Gildersleeve plans to drive to the hospital to bring his niece Marjorie and the newborn twins home, but his nephew Bronco has claimed the car, and Gildersleeve is left out of the trip. Feeling unneeded, he and Leroy retreat to the cellar, sulking about being left behind. Meanwhile, Gildersleeve fusses over his household and his errands, insisting he is essential to the homecoming. This episode of The Great Gildersleeve, first broadcast on NBC on March 7, 1951, stars Harold Peary, with Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
