What happens
Leroy Forrester becomes obsessed with becoming a singing cowboy after trading a swarm of bees for a guitar, and he practices constantly at home. His uncle, Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, grows exasperated by the noise and tries to talk Leroy out of the idea, first by telling him he has no voice and then by stressing the hardships of a cowboy's life. The Great Gildersleeve is a radio comedy series, first broadcast on NBC on May 7, 1952, starring Harold Peary, with Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle in the cast. Leroy takes the lessons to heart in his own way, and the household's efforts to steer him away from the idea grow increasingly tangled.
The Gildersleeve household in Summerfield, with scenes at the house, the water department office, and Peavey's pharmacy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
