What happens
Gildersleeve and his nephew Leroy are set to leave for an overnight fishing trip, but Marjorie is upset that her husband Bronco has not written for two days. Bronco is returning home from a business trip, and Marjorie plans a special welcome with dinner and music for just the two of them. Her uncle Mort, however, decides the homecoming should be a big family celebration, which keeps postponing their fishing plans. As Marjorie tries to find a quiet moment with Bronco, the household crowds into the parlor and the day grows busier than either of them expected. The Great Gildersleeve, starring Harold Peary, is a radio comedy series, and this episode was first broadcast on NBC on May 14, 1952.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
