What happens
The Great Gildersleeve is at home in a crowded house when Marjorie and Bronco prepare to move into their own home next door on moving day. Gildersleeve grows irritable over the early morning noise, the twins waking him at five, and a shaving brush ruined with shellac, while Birdie and Leroy react to the family's departure. Gildersleeve and the other household members help the young couple carry furniture next door, and the house grows quiet. The episode was broadcast on NBC in 1952 and stars Harold Peary, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle among the cast.
The Gildersleeve household and the house next door in Summerfield, on the day Marjorie and Bronco move out.
Characters: Gildersleeve, Marjorie, Bronco, Leroy, Birdie, Peavey, Judge Hooker, Ronnie
Listen for: Gildersleeve's early morning complaints and the shellac-covered shaving brush, followed by the furniture move.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
