What happens
Leroy Gildersleeve is terrified of a bully named Snyder, who chases him home from school and threatens him. Uncle Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve, the town's water commissioner, learns that his nephew has been hiding from the boy and decides Leroy needs to stand up for himself. Gildersleeve passes along his views on fighting and a boxing trick he learned in college, while Leroy's schoolteacher friend Eve Goodwin argues that fighting settles nothing. Part of this episode of The Great Gildersleeve, which aired on NBC on December 11, 1946, is starred by Harold Peary. It follows the family and neighbors of the Gildersleeve household in a small American town.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
