What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve and his fiancee Leila Ransom argue over where to live after their marriage. Leila wants to move to the old Burton house, while Throckmorton prefers the family home he has known for years. Judge Hooker and Bertie the housekeeper add to the debate, and Leroy is unsettled by talk of moving. Bertie claims the Burton house is haunted, and that a sound once frightened her gentleman friend. The Great Gildersleeve is a comedy series, and this episode was first broadcast on NBC on May 16, 1943, with Harold Peary in the title role, alongside Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
