What happens
Gildersleeve becomes suspicious when his new neighbour, Adeline Fairchild, arrives from Savannah and begins showing interest in his housekeeper, Birdie. After a dinner visit and a dish of Creole gumbo, Gildersleeve grows convinced that Adeline is trying to steal Birdie away. His household, including his nephew Leroy and his friend Judge Hooker, tries to keep Birdie content, and Gildersleeve scrambles to protect his household staff from the new arrival. The episode is from The Great Gildersleeve, an NBC series, broadcast on February 25, 1948, with Harold Peary in the title role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
