What happens
Gildersleeve's nephew Leroy is reluctant to attend a party thrown by a girl at his school, and Gildersleeve, frustrated by the boy's stubbornness, insists he go. After a stern talk and a memory of his own childhood dancing-school misadventure, Gildersleeve decides Leroy should get acquainted with girls by inviting classmate Helen Moore to visit the house that afternoon. The Great Gildersleeve is a long-running NBC comedy starring Harold Peary, and this episode first aired on March 3, 1948. Gildersleeve, meanwhile, has a tea engagement with Adeline Fairchild that he keeps finding himself delayed from.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
