What happens
Gildersleeve learns that the Summerfield women's club is staging a benefit performance by the Wings of Song opera company, and he is annoyed to be left off the sponsors' committee. Mrs. Pettibone and Mrs. Bullard then visit and enlist him as a sponsor, and he agrees to sell fifteen tickets at five dollars each. Trying to unload them on his friends, neighbors, and the Jolly Boys, he discovers that few people want to buy them. The Great Gildersleeve is a comedy series, and this episode was first broadcast on NBC on December 2, 1945. Harold Peary stars, with Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle also appearing.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
