What happens
Gildersleeve, the chairman of the Committee on Arrangements for a touring opera performance in Summerfield, finds himself caught between rival women who each want to be named head patroness. Judge Hooker has handed him the chairmanship, and the dressmaker's shop becomes a scene of competing claims and mishaps. Gildersleeve, who believes he knows how to handle women, is forced to settle the dispute. The Great Gildersleeve is an NBC radio comedy from December 9, 1945, starring Harold Peary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
