What happens
Water Commissioner Gildersleeve fails to come home for dinner one evening, leaving his household uneasy. His niece Marjorie, nephew Leroy, niece Bertie and son-in-law Bronco wonder where he is, while Judge Hooker drops by and reports that he is missing from the office. The Jolly Boys club also grows concerned when the commissioner misses their meeting. The Great Gildersleeve is a long-running NBC radio comedy, and this episode aired on January 9, 1952, with Harold Peary and Willard Waterman among its leading performers.
Summerfield, a small town, where Gildersleeve's household and the Jolly Boys club are based.
Characters: Gildersleeve, Marjorie, Leroy, Bertie, Bronco, Judge Hooker, Floyd, Pete
Listen for: Bronco's secretive phone call and his refusal to explain it to the family.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
